Starbucks Gluten-Free Menu 2024: 80 Delicious Drinks

Starbucks, I’m sure there is an inner caffeine lover in all of us that lights up at the sound of it. I am a fan of it all, from frappuccinos to refreshers to cold brews.

But, as we know, gluten has a way of sneaking into the most surprising of places. So I needed to know what was on Starbucks gluten-free menu.

Starbucks carefully lists all of their allergens on their website and has individual allergen handbooks sorted into specific categories. These include drinks, food, limited edition, and holiday items. I went through each handbook with a fine-tooth comb and compiled a clear menu of Starbucks gluten-free options.

Starbucks has multiple food and drink items that are gluten-free as well as individually packaged snacks safe for celiacs. As this is a fast-paced coffee shop with gluten-containing items, they can not say that certain cross-contamination does not occur.

A Brief History

Starbucks has taken off tremendously since it first opened in Seattle, Washington, in 1971. They now have 34,317 stores across the globe, making them the largest coffeehouse chain in the world. They even purchased their own coffee farm in 2013.

While they opened in 1971, it wasn’t until 1983 that Starbucks created its first latte.  A trip to Italy inspired now CEO Howard Schultz to bring the Italian coffee culture back to Seattle.

Fun Fact: Starbucks has several one-of-a-kind stores across the globe including a females only location in India.

Starbucks not only serves the community with tasty drinks and food items but created the Community Store Program to give back. These designated stores partner with non-profit organizations and focus on hiring directly from the community.

They also use this store space to hold community events, programs, and collaborations with local artists.

Now that you know what makes Starbucks so great let’s jump into the gluten-free menu.

Gluten-Free Drinks

When I hear Starbucks, I immediately think of coffee, but their menu goes far behind just that. From teas to frozen drinks, they have a bit for everyone. If you have visited a Starbucks before you’ve witnessed the care and craft that goes into making each drink. Let’s see what carefully crafted beverages are gluten-free.

Hot Coffee

While flavored coffees will always have a place in my heart, a hot americano is always my go-to first thing in the morning. Starbucks sources their beans from Latin America, Africa, and Asia/Pacific and have an extensive range of traditional coffee beverages, and they are all gluten-free.

  • Caffe Latte
  • Café Misto
  • Cappuccino
  • Caramel Macchiato

  • Starbucks Blonde® Caramel Macchiato
  • Vanilla Latte

Mocha and Hot Chocolate

Not a coffee person? There are still plenty of hot gluten-free options to choose from. These include:

  • Caffe Mocha
  • Classic Hot Chocolate
  • Hot White Chocolate
  • Signature Hot Chocolate
  • Starbucks Blonde® Mocha
  • White Mocha

Teas

On days I have already had a coffee I love to switch my order to tea. Chai Tea Latte made with almond milk is my go to. While Starbucks has used Tazo tea in the past they now use teavana. The below teas are all gluten-free.

  • Chai Tea
  • Chamomile Tea
  • Classic Chai Tea Latte
  • Earl Grey Tea
  • Emperor’s Clouds & Mist Tea
  • English Breakfast Tea
  • Hibiscus Blend Tea

Frappuccinos

My mouth begins to water just thinking of these creamy cups of deliciousness. Frappuccinos are a great way to cool off on a hot summer day or just a nice sweet treat. There are plenty of gluten-free options you can still enjoy,  just make sure to avoid the java chips as they contain wheat.

Please be aware there is no set blender for gluten-free beverages; this is shared for all frappuccinos. Because of this, cross-contamination may occur. My advice is to make the barista aware of your allergen and use your precaution. If you are extremely sensitive, this may not be the best option.

  • Caramel Frappuccino
  • Caramel Cream Frappuccino
  • Chai Tea Cream Frappuccino
  • Chocolate Cream Frappuccino
  • Coffee Frappuccino
  • Espresso Frappuccino
  • Matcha Tea Cream Frappuccino
  • Matcha Tea Cream Frappuccino
  • Mocha Frappuccino
  • Strawberries & Cream Frappuccino
  • Vanilla Cream Frappuccino

  • White Mocha Frappuccino
  • White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino

  • White Chocolate Cream Frappuccino

Milk Variations

More of a skim milk person, better yet dairy-free or vegan? No need to worry; Starbucks has you covered. Sub out any of the below milks in your hot or iced beverages.

  • Semi Skim Milk
  • Whole Milk
  • Almond Milk
  • Soy Milk
  • Coconut Milk
  • Original Nut Blend

Starbucks also carries oat milk but does not state whether or not it is certified gluten-free. Oat milk and oats, in general, are naturally gluten-free; however, cross-contamination often occurs due to their proximity to wheat plants and during processing. While I do not react to oat milk, it can differ for everyone.

Flavors and Toppings

Are you looking to spice your drink up even more? Get creative and flavor your coffee, latte, or cappuccino however you please. All of the syrups and toppings below are gluten-free.

  • Sugar-Free Caramel Flavor Syrup
  • Sugar-Free Hazelnut Flavor Syrup
  • Sugar-Free Vanilla Flavor Syrup
  • Caramel Flavor Syrup
  • Hazelnut Flavor Syrup
  • Vanilla Flavor Syrup
  • Almond Flavor Syrup
  • Mocha Drizzle
  • Caramel Drizzle
  • Whipped Cream
  • Soya Whipped Topping

Gluten-Free Food

What’s a coffee without a bite to eat or a sweet treat? While many coffee shops’ gluten-free options are slim to none, that is not the case at Starbucks. They have several breakfast options, snacks, dessert a  gluten-free sandwich, and individually packaged items safe for celiacs.

  • Mango
  • Banana
  • 5 Grain Oatmeal- made with gluten-free oats per allergen sheet
  • Berry Crunch Greek Yogurt – made with puffed rice granola
  • Kale and Mushroom Egg Bites
  • Bacon and Gruyere Egg Bites
  • Gluten-Free Ham & Cheese Panini

Snacks

  • Almonds, Cashews, Cranberries & Raisins

Sweets

  • Dark Chocolate Bar 40g
  • Milk Chocolate Bar 40g

Gluten-Free Limited Edition and Holiday Options

These two areas seem to be lacking on the gluten-free side. The holiday menu had zero gluten-free options while there are two current limited edition items. These items include the berry hot chocolate and the berry iced cappuccino.

As Starbucks menu changes often, there may be additional gluten-free items that you do not see on the above lists. It’s always helpful to check with your barista and let them know you have an allergy; no one wants to pay for their Starbucks twice.

Wrapping Things Up

If Starbucks is your go-to for a coffee run or quick bite, there is no need to fear. You can still enjoy lots on a gluten-free diet. Just remember to make your barista aware of your allergen, especially if you decide to order a frappuccino.
